Abstract

In the present work the particularities of the head of household in the Cuban case at the beginning of the current millennium are analyzed; as well as a comparative space of some of these particularities with the Dominican Republic is inserted in the analysis. For this, initially a brief theoretical description of some of the main debates related to female leadership in Latin America is carried out, later for the analysis of the Cuban situation, descriptive census statistics are used with the objective of pointing out some inequalities and similarities between the heads of household in Cuba. A special distinction is made regarding female leadership in union, as this is a distinctive feature of the Cuban leadership pattern, compared to the rest of Latin America
