Checklist of birds in eight localities of Sierra del Rosario, Artemisa, Cuba, between 2006 and 2012

Abstract

Species lists are important tools for description of natural communities and
to design and monitor management and conservation plans in protected
areas. Current paper aims to present an updated list of bird species detected
in the Sierra del Rosario Biosphere Reserve, Cuba, from records and observa-
tions conducted from 2006 to 2012. I report 108 species, 67 % of them cate-
gorized as common and 18 species rare or accidentals. I failed to detect
three species, historically reported from the area.
