Cuba: A Transformation Comparative Balance

Abstract

This article is aimed at providing a brief summary of the process of transformations that have taken place in Cuba during the two last years, from a primarily point of view . The paper is mad e up of fiv e parts: an in troduction , a section devoted to highlight the way in which the econom ic upgrading process has gone deeper and has extended in search of a proper definition of Cuban Socialism ; a second section which addresses the process as from the crisis management and survival, until the definition of the paths of development; a third section which assess the results as from two perspectives: the process of transformations, and the economic results of the country in the last years (though there are certain limits for the analysis due to data availability), and one last section with a briefon clusion .
