Lista de comprobación para la preparación de envíos
Como parte del proceso de envío, los autores/as están obligados a comprobar que su envío cumpla todos los elementos que se muestran a continuación. Se devolverán a los autores/as aquellos envíos que no cumplan estas directrices.- El envío no ha sido publicado previamente ni se ha sometido a consideración por ninguna otra revista (o se ha proporcionado una explicación al respecto en los Comentarios al editor/a).
- El archivo de envío está en formato OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF o WordPerfect.
- Siempre que sea posible, se proporcionan direcciones URL para las referencias.
- El texto tiene interlineado sencillo; 12 puntos de tamaño de fuente; se utiliza cursiva en lugar de subrayado (excepto en las direcciones URL); y todas las ilustraciones, figuras y tablas se encuentran colocadas en los lugares del texto apropiados, en vez de al final.
- El texto se adhiere a los requisitos estilísticos y bibliográficos resumidos en las Directrices del autor/a, que aparecen en Acerca de la revista.

The journal El Sincopado Habanero invites researchers, educators, and professionals involved in musical heritage to submit original works for consideration. Authors should carefully adhere to the following editorial guidelines.
Submission of Manuscripts
Submissions should be sent through the online editorial system or via institutional email (elsincopadohabanero@gmail.com).
- General Conditions and Submission Guidelines
Articles and other contributions must be original and unpublished, and not currently published or under review by another journal or publishing outlet.
The primary language of the journal is Spanish. Works in English may be accepted with prior approval from the Editorial Committee.
Texts should be submitted in an editable digital format (Microsoft Word or compatible).
The maximum length for main articles is 20 pages, including notes and bibliographic references. In justified cases, the Editorial Committee may authorize a longer length. - Text format: A4 paper / Margins: 2.5 cm / Font: Times New Roman, size 12 / Line spacing: 1.5 / Justified text / First-line indent: 1.25 cm / Footnotes: size 10, single-spaced
Supplementary materials (musical examples, tables, figures, graphs, or appendices) must be clearly justified and properly identified.
The author is responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce images, scores, musical examples, or other copyrighted materials, thereby releasing the journal from any legal liability arising from their misuse.
Authorship information and anonymous peer review
Manuscripts must be submitted in two separate files:
- A fully anonymized manuscript file, containing no information that could identify the author(s).
- Authorship Information File, which will include:
- Title of the work
- Full name of the author(s) (maximum three)
- Institutional affiliation
- Email address
- Brief academic CV (maximum 150–200 words)
Good Editorial Practices and Gender Equality
The journal actively promotes good research practices, including:
- Use of inclusive and non-sexist language.
- Full identification of the name and gender of authors cited in references, when possible.
- Critical consideration of the gender dimension in data, sources, and research approaches, when relevant.
Types of Submissions
Research Articles
Original works of a theoretical, historical, analytical, or interdisciplinary nature related to musical heritage.
Book and Discography Reviews
Reviews will preferably be requested by the Editorial Committee, although unsolicited proposals will be accepted and subject to evaluation.
Academic News
Reports on relevant conferences, symposia, and scientific events. A maximum length of 5 pages is recommended.
Evaluation Process
Articles will undergo a double-blind peer review process conducted by external specialists.
- The Editorial Committee will conduct a preliminary evaluation to verify the topic's relevance, compliance with guidelines, and the text's originality (including detection of similarities and plagiarism).
- In case of disagreement among the reviewers, a third review may be requested.
The estimated timeframe for communicating the editorial decision is up to six months from receipt of the manuscript. - Final acceptance is contingent upon incorporation of the corrections suggested by the reviewers.
Proofreading
The editorial team reserves the right to make stylistic and formatting corrections.
Article Structure
Heading
The article must include:
- Title of the work in Spanish and English
- Abstract (150–200 words)
- Keywords (between 4 and 7)
- Abstract and Keywords in English
If the article is written in English, it must include an abstract and keywords in both the original language and Spanish.
Body of the Text
- Section headings should be in bold, without numbering.
- Short quotations (fewer than 40 words) should be integrated into the text within quotation marks.
- Long quotations (40 words or more) should be presented in a separate, indented paragraph, without quotation marks, following APA style (7th edition).
- Foreign language terms should be italicized.
- The use of tabs should be avoided; the word processor's formatting tools should be used.
Tables, Figures, and Musical Examples
- Tables and figures should be numbered consecutively and have a descriptive title.
- The approximate insertion location should be clearly indicated in the text.
- Images and musical examples should be submitted as separate files (.jpg or .png format, minimum resolution 300 dpi).
Bibliographic References (APA Style)
El Sincopado Habanero fully adopts the APA style, 7th edition, for both in-text citations and the final reference list.
- In-text citations should follow the author-date system: (Last Name, year, p. xx).
- The reference list should be included at the end of the article, arranged alphabetically.
- Authors are advised to carefully review the consistency between citations and references.

Author's Last Name, First Initial(s). (Year of Publication). Title of the book in italics. Publisher.
Journal Article:
Author's Last Name, First Initial(s). (Year of Publication). Article Title. Journal Title in italics, Journal Volume (Issue Number), Pages covered by the article. DOI or URL of the resource.
Book Chapter:
Chapter Author's Last Name, First Initial(s). (Year of Publication). Chapter Title. In Editor's First Initial(s), Book Title in italics (Pages covered by the chapter). Publisher.
Footnotes
Footnotes should be used only for clarifying comments or supplementary information, avoiding their use for bibliographic references, which must be integrated into the APA citation style in the text.
Acceptance and Rights
Submission of a manuscript implies acceptance of these editorial guidelines. Once the article is published, the publishing rights will belong to El Sincopado Habanero magazine, always respecting the intellectual authorship of the text.
