DESARROLLO DE LA MODELACIÓN ESTADÍSTICO–MATEMÁTICA EN LAS CIENCIAS AGRARIAS. RETOS Y PERSPECTIVAS
Keywords:

Statistical-Mathematical Modeling of Processes constitutes an indispensable tool for the efficient development of scientific investigations and the search for solutions and optimal productions. The present work aims to divulge some experiences and results achieved in the modeling of processes in Agricultural Sciences. Development of Biomathematics is shown briefly, from a multidisciplinary work between mathematicians, statisticians and specialists. Evolution in non-linear regressions and the proposal of initial parameters from their mathematical-biological interpretations are presented. Examples are included ranging from animal and plant growth models (Logistic, Gompertz and Von-Bertalanffy models), allometric growth and lactation curves, to models used in genetic improvement programs (with the use of weighing on the control day and random regressions). The methodologies that are part of these and other investigations have been introduced and generalized in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and have contributed to the development of teaching and scientific - research in basic sciences, their inter and multidisciplinary fields. New research strategies are developed in order to increase the results achieved, generate new concepts, strengthen cooperation and transfer knowledge, as well as train young professions as a master's degree in Biomathematics (developed at the Agrarian University of Havana) and prepare competent specialists that respond to the teaching and scientific-investigative challenges of the new university.
