Abstract

Planing the sequence and operations in machining processes in Flexible Manufacturing Systems environments implies the challenge of finding the best machining strategy. To do that, there is a number of CAD/CAM tools to ease the hand-made heuristical evaluation of alternatives strategies. Besides several mathematical optimization models have been introduced that define the best operation sequence on a part, but limited by already defined operations and times. In this work we propose a
Integer Programming Model that includes possible variations of operations subject to the planned sequence, based on alternative strategies. This model was applied to the development of experimental blade holders of urban wind-power generators. This model returned two results: machining-time reduction of 7% and the sequence-time definition was reduced in 62%.
