Abstract

Nowadays in Brazil there are a great number of sugarcane varieties available to plant. Despite the plenty of possibilities for
sugarcane cultivars, the exaggerated cultivation of just one variety is assumed to be a great problem that could occurs in the
next years. The construction of an optimization model for cultivation applied to varieties that supports the search of the best
combination among the high number of existent varieties would be of extreme importance for the agricultural planning. The
goal of this work is to create a methodology that could be implemented in sugar-mills and could be useful as a support in the
management decisions making for the sugarcane varieties, performing the sugar production more efficient. The mathematical
model includes the sugarcane varieties, the production areas the productivities in the months of harvest the constraints of
percentage of maximum plantation and necessity of cane delivery. The solution of the problem indicates the maximum
percentage of varieties plantation in the correct areas, optimizing the sugar-mill plantation.
