This work presents the application of 3 inventory models to get the safety stock and reorder point in the case of two products, the
first one with normal demand and lead time, and the second one with uniform demand and lead time, both items with discrete,
random, independent and known demand and lead time, including discounts for buying bigger quantities.
The models applied have been the Hybrid method (MH), the target service level (NSM), and the analytical method (MA).
There has been a problem in calculating the safety stock in the case of item with normal demand and lead time, due to the
assumption that demand for the delivery time is normal, which may not be true. For the article with uniform demand and
delivery time, the 3 models gave similar results, being less desirable hybrid method since it is very laborious to get the stock that
minimizes the cost of inventory.
In these circumstances the best model has been NSM, with few calculations have produced good results.
The order quantity has been the same with all 3 models, due to the savings obtained with the lowest price offered by the supplier
